Community Manager

We are looking for a highly organized, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Community Manager to join our team.  This full-time position oversees the entire member experience at New Lab, an energetic workspace that serves as the professional base for five hundred member entrepreneurs, engineers, and designers working in advanced technologies. The following characteristics are requirements for eligibility for this position:

  • Deep knowledge of advanced technologies and New York’s tech ecosystem

This crucial role manages recruitment, community development, in-house programming and opportunities for our members. This position is ideal for a passionate technologist with experience in community development. Imperative to this position are a knowledge of New York City’s tech ecosystem, prior experience as an entrepreneur or working alongside entrepreneurs—preferably in a collaborative workspace environment—strong organizational skills, a talent for clear communication, a strong commitment to being a team player, and a deep interest in enabling entrepreneurial success.

Based in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, New Lab provides the tools and community that unite and support 500 innovative entrepreneurs, designers, and engineers representing up to 100 companies in a variety of fields—including robotics, A.I., urban technology, and energy—and fosters collaboration and advancement across disciplines.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in community development or similar position
  • Must be able to provide references upon request

Responsibilities

  • Recruit new membership, oversee selection and onboarding
  • Work closely with New Lab’s leadership team to ensure that the member experience reflects the organization’s vision
  • Meet defined goals around new member growth, member renewal, community engagement, and overall member satisfaction
  • Develop new ideas and opportunities that enhance member experience through programming and workshops; spearhead the execution of these ideas in collaboration with in-house events team
  • Consistently and actively communicate with membership; be the trusted point-person for members
  • Gather and streamline member feedback, summarize for New Lab’s team, and respond to it effectively
  • Analyze data related to member growth and experience; use these learnings to drive decisions and inform strategy
  • Track case studies and instances of impact; share with internal and external stakeholders
  • Represent the dynamic New Lab community to the greater tech ecosystem in New York and beyond
