Why New Lab?

Community

New Lab's member community includes over 600 entrepreneurs, engineers, designers and technologists, as well as a wider network of city, corporate, and venture stakeholders. This ecosystem fosters powerful collaborations, shared knowledge and resources, and opportunities to build the relationships central to growing and sustaining a successful company. Members frequently cite this community as a primary motivating factor for choosing to scale their businesses at New Lab.

Workshops & Programming

New Lab offers specialized programming and community events including workshops, skill-based classes, networking opportunities, happy hours, and consultations with domain experts on topics ranging from navigating patent law to crowdfunding strategies. These resources are specifically designed to help startups create value at every stage of company growth and product development.

Investment Opportunities

To date, New Lab has helped its member companies raise over $450M in capital from 270+ investment partners, with over $350M of successful exits and a current collective valuation of $1.7B.

In addition, New Lab has its own venture arm, which invests in select member companies and provides guidance through the fundraising process. Involvement is not a requirement and any investor relationship is entered into independently of membership.

Pilot & Partnership Opportunities

New Lab's enterprise partnership programs facilitate opportunities for select members to engage with Fortune 500 companies through a defined methodology including workshops, product development sprints, and co-creation studios.

Through our city partnerships, members working in urban tech have direct access to city stakeholders via collaborative projects and pilot programs at New Lab, in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and throughout New York City.

Intellectual Property

All member companies own and retain IP created or brought into the space. New Lab ensures that every precaution is taken to protect intellectual property, including a strictly enforced no-photos policy in member work spaces and waivers signed by all visitors.

Workspace

Our headquarters in the Brooklyn Navy Yard provides 84,000 sf of workspace and prototyping facilities in a former shipbuilding warehouse with amenities including: flexible workspaces, bookable conference rooms, an in-house cafe, on-site IT support, mail service, lockers, bike parking, and a proprietary member OS.

To support our growing member community, our second location will open this fall at 77 Washington, a beautiful six-story former factory dating back to the 1930s that will provide an additional 22,000 sf of workspace.
