Design Institution Advisor - Founding Co-President, Terreform ONE
Maria Aiolova is an educator, architect and urban designer in New York City. Her work is focused on the theory, science and application of ecological design. She is the founding Co-President of Terreform ONE and a Partner at Planetary ONE. Presently, Maria chairs the ONE Lab NY School for Design and Science and the One Prize Design and Science Award. Most recently, Maria was faculty at Pratt Institute, Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Design and Parsons the New School for Design.
CEO, Within Lab
Dr Siavash Mahdavi is the Managing Director of Within Technologies and the CTO of Digital Forming. Siavash studied Mechatronics Engineering at King's College London. He followed on to study a M.Sc. in Intelligent Systems at University College London and continued his research to complete a doctorate in Evolutionary robotics.
With support from UCL Business, Mahdavi started Complex Matters Ltd in 2005, a design consultancy that worked with designers and engineers in creating objects with optimised structures that enable them to exhibited unparalleled material properties.
He moved on to establish Within Technologies, a design consultancy and software house specializing in utilizing Additive Manufacturing for higher-end engineering applications such as the Medical, Aerospace, Formula1 and Footwear industries. He also co-founded Digital Forming, a company that is making use of 3D printing to enable the mass customization of consumer products for high-street brands. Both companies were featured in the Economist in a cover story entitled The manufacturing technology that will change the world.
