Amogy's Journey to Series B and Piloting their Zero-Emission Fuel Source Technology at Newlab

In 2020, Amogy was still an idea and a single desk at Newlab Brooklyn.

Amogy's ammonia-to-hydrogen onboard conversion technology provides a groundbreaking zero-emission fuel source that has now been successfully piloted to power drones, tractors, long-haul trucks, and very soon, an ammonia-powered, zero-emission tugboat. Getting the first ammonia-powered vessel on the water signals a huge milestone in the larger journey to zero-emissions shipping, as ammonia is predicted to become the leading fuel source for the world’s giant cargo ships by 2050.

As an early-stage Newlab member, Amogy leveraged the vibrant startup community, lab space, and expertise available to rapidly scale from concept to commercialization. CEO Seonghoon Woo, who occupied that first desk, has seen his vision grow into a Series B company. Just last month, Amogy announced plans to move into its own 53,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Houston—a pivotal step in Amogy’s journey to accelerate the global energy transition.
