Newlab Detroit Wins Fast Company’s 2024 Innovation by Design Awards in Interior Design

Newlab Detroit has been honored with Fast Company’s 2024 Civilian Innovation by Design Award for interior design.

We’re proud to announce that Newlab Detroit (located at Michigan Central) has been honored with Fast Company’s 2024 Civilian Innovation by Design Award for interior design. Newlab Detroit, which is part of a nearly billion-dollar investment from Ford Motor Company, has become home to just under 100 companies focused on the future of mobility.

This award highlights the success of our approach to fostering innovation through intentional design. Newlab Detroit’s 270,000 sq. ft. interior balances the building’s historic roots with state-of-the-art facilities, giving our members the space and infrastructure they need to scale. From private offices to prototyping workshops to collaboration spaces, every design detail is intended to support the development of next-generation technologies and the success of our founders.

At Newlab, we believe that one’s environment plays a crucial role in driving innovation forward. We’re excited to continue fostering Detroit’s innovation ecosystem and providing Michigan-based startups with the tools they need to commercialize sustainable technologies.
