Position Description

New Lab is seeking a Chief Business Officer to develop and execute the global strategy for how New Lab connects its key stakeholders across corporate, government and consulting entities with our member community. New Lab currently offers three core products to drive valuable collaboration between our member community and external stakeholders with relevant challenges; 1) Workshops to uncover needs of the partner 2) Product sprints to develop solutions to their specific needs across 3-4 months and 3) Multi year studio programs focused on specific fields of technology. As the CBO you will help to improve and alter these products while building and leading the relevant teams to negotiate participation in these programs across various external partners.  In addition this role will serve as a key leader and voice in influencing the overall company strategy, direction and focus areas.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set business development goals and objectives regarding New Lab programs and products
  • Recruit, hire and manage the business development team members necessary to meet or exceed the goals of the department annually
  • Determine quarterly OKRs for the business development department while managing team performance to meet them
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and manage programs and performance against agreed funding
  • Report progress and challenges across all BD endeavours to CEO and board members
  • Work with marketing, operations, finance and all other relevant department leadership to ensure alignment of goals and focus areas, while executing as a team to meet them
  • Use all available data and industry insights to make evidence-based decisions and strategic changes, altering our strategy as needed
  • Stay up to date with the latest technology fields of interest at New Lab and develop the appropriate marketing and communication approach to highlight them
  • Represent New Lab at relevant speaking engagements and public exposure opportunities
  • Develop strong relationships at the highest levels regarding our corporate, consulting and government partners

 

Experience:

  • 7+ years in relevant business development/sales/partnerships roles, including experience recruiting, hiring, leading and mentoring high-performing teams
  • Strong background developing successful business development strategies to meet or exceed annual targets
  • Significant management experience and proven ability building a high performing, motivated, full-stack BD team.
  • The interest, acumen, experience and overall network to work with engineers and entrepreneurs. You should have the agility to bridge between legacy technologies in multinationals and the advanced technologies that are transforming the world around us.
  • Success developing go to market strategies and shaping a company’s product line from the ground up
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions to create a strong partnership with sales, operations and finance
  • Direct or indirect exposure to various relevant  technology fields a plus
  • Exposure to incubators, accelerators and other similar models a plus
