Operations Coordinator

Based in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, New Lab provides the tools and community that unite and support 700+ innovative entrepreneurs, designers, and engineers representing over 140 companies in a variety of fields—including robotics, A.I., urban technology, and energy—and fosters collaboration and advancement across disciplines

 

New Lab is seeking an Operations Coordinator to support the New Lab Operations Team across multiple functions. This position is ideal for a recent college graduate in hospitality management or business administration who is seeking to gain tangible industry experience in a highly creative, collaborative and fast-paced environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily coverage and support across the operations department in multiple locations
  • Reception support: 
    • Welcoming and greeting guests
    • Answering and directing phone calls
    • Onboarding and offboarding members and staff 
    • Addressing member requests in person and virtually 
    • Answering and fielding phone calls 
  • Cafe support: 
    • Greeting, engaging, and assisting customers 
    • Point-of-sale system management 
    • Receiving, labelling and stocking and taking inventory
    • Assisting with setting up cafe events such as pop ups
  • Administrative support: 
    • Assisting with onboarding new employees 
    • Placing, receiving, organizing and taking inventory of supplies
    • Assisting with conducting audits, organizing and maintaining electronic files and data entry 
  • Assisting with general administrative tasks and special projects across the operations team as needed

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a customer-facing position. 
  • Experience with MS Excel and Google Suite 
  • High-energy, positive and committed to providing high-quality customer service 
  • Is able to prioritize and handle multiple demands with composure 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and a keen eye for detail 
  • Takes initiative to acquire new skills in order to improve performance
  • Feels comfortable working at multiple locations in a fast-paced and evolving work environment where demands and priorities can shift quickly
  • Is excited to learn about developments in technology, science and culture
  • Experience with Zendesk, Square and Salesforce is a plus
