Program Manager

New Lab supports entrepreneurs who are defining the future of technology and human experience. Based in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, New Lab provides the tools and community that unite and support 500+ innovative entrepreneurs, designers, and engineers representing over 100 companies in a variety of fields—including robotics, A.I., urban technology, and energy—and fosters collaboration and advancement across disciplines. 

New Lab is seeking a Program Manager to join the Products and Programs team and report directly to the VP of Product and Programs. This role will operate specific programs and offerings we deliver to our important stakeholders. Whether they are our valuable network of member companies and entrepreneurs, our corporate partners, government agencies or academic institutions we aim to offer highly valuable, well designed and flawlessly executed programs. In addition, you have experience working in public-private partnerships or operating innovation programs that are at the intersection of entrepreneurs and enterprise, investor, and public stakeholders. You have prior technical exposure, preferably in an engineering or manufacturing space, or demonstrated an aptitude in these sectors through prior academic work or adjacent professional experience. 

New Lab currently offers three core products to drive valuable collaboration between our member community and external stakeholders with relevant challenges; 1) Workshops to uncover needs of the partner 2) Product sprints to develop solutions to partners’ specific needs across 3-4 months and 3) Multi-year studio programs focused on making progress in specific fields of technology. You will lead the operation of specific multi-year studio programs, design and manage product development sprints, and the development and execution of enterprise-focused workshops.  Working in close collaboration with and receiving support from other New Lab departments, you will execute these programs, from building the networks of participants to overseeing the day-to-day planning of activities and events to engage the sponsor stakeholders. As the lead of these programs, you are responsible for the overall package offering and working across the New Lab team to ensure these programs are a complete success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations: Lead operations of specific multi-year studio programs.  Design and lead execution of enterprise-focused workshops. Taking inputs from the program partners and working with relevant New Lab departments you will build the ecosystem of entrepreneurs, academics and experts who will participate in the programs and workshops. You will partner with the Business Development team to grow interest and additional sponsorship for the studios.  
  • Program Materials: Develop program KPIs, activities, timelines, key milestones and client reporting. The Program Manager will also design all enterprise-focused workshops and events related to the studios, including leading outreach to event attendees and workshop participants.  
  • Ecosystem Expertise: The Program Manager is responsible for staying up to date on industry trends relevant to their studios and workshops and the developing ecosystems in NYC and globally which are points of interest and opportunity. The Program Manager will provide insights to the Product and Programs team  and ensure we deliver high caliber programs to our clients.

Experience:

  • 4+ years of operational experience in innovation or government programs or equivalent.
  • Strong track record of working with government, corporate and or entrepreneurs in multi-stakeholder programs
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions to create a strong partnership with sales, operations and finance
  • Capable of moving multiple initiatives and executing actionable plans
  • Experienced at managing stakeholders with diverse needs and understanding how to adapt message and style depending on audience 
  • High emotional intelligence & deep intellectual curiosity 
  • Driven by creativity and a desire to make a positive and significant impact 
  • Highly organized and focused on deliverables; able to manage deadlines and shifting priorities 
  • Stellar communicator with a background and familiarity working in the worlds of frontier technology, innovation and social impact 
  • Experience or exposure to an engineering, manufacturing, or technical field
